I thought that I would share with you some information from Google. Over the next few weeks, Google will be appending a “mobile friendly” label to mobile search results to make it easier for mobile searchers to determine if the content will render well on their mobile device.
.tel meets criteria
A page is eligible for the “mobile-friendly” label if it meets the following criteria as detected by Google’s Googlebot:
- Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
- Uses text that is readable without zooming
- Sizes content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
- Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped
The .tel fits this criteria perfectly and this is even validated by Google who offer a “Mobile Friendly” Test. The link is below and all you have to do is enter the web page url. Try gareth.tel or one of your own .tel names and you should get positive feedback from Google confirming that .tel is an “awesome” fit with their criteria for mobile search.
