To meet Traficom’s NIS2 requirements (as the .FI registry) for the .FI ccTLD, we are updating how .FI domains are handled on our platform.
We are aligning our .FI processes with our existing gTLD and ICANN standards; the same structured approach we already use for SIDN, Nominet, and AFNIC.
The result: consistent processes, clearer responsibilities, and compliance built in by default.
Below is what changes and what we ask from you.
Verification and validation of registrant data
For .FI registrations, we now apply the same verification and validation procedures used for gTLDs under ICANN rules.
This helps ensure that registrant …
EURid change of Terms and Conditions
EURid has updated the .eu Accredited Registrar Agreement. From the 1st of January 2026, for every .eu registration, you must ensure and keep evidence that the registrant has accepted the Rules in effect at the time of registration. The registrant confirms the request is made in good faith, does not infringe the rights of any third party, and meets the .eu eligibility criteria.
What we’re doing:
- We will use the same contact validation and email confirmation mechanism we already apply to gTLDs for .eu as well.
- Our process helps you keep proof that …
We want to inform you about important changes regarding the registration process for .NU and .SE domains. These updates are effective from the 1st of February and are required to comply with the registry’s policies.
What’s Changing?
- Mandatory ID Information
From February 1st, all new registrations for .NU and .SE domains must include registrant ID information that can be (pre)validated by the registry:
- Individuals: a passport number is required for the registrant.
- Companies/organisations: a KVK (Chamber of Commerce) number and/or VAT number is required for the registrant.
These ID details must be present and valid so the registration …
The Finnish registry (Traficom) is introducing registrant contact validation for all .FI domain names.
At Realtime Register, we’ll handle this using the same familiar validation flow we already use for gTLDs, so there’s no additional complexity for our partners or customers.
What You Can Expect
- New registrations and contact changes: When a new .FI domain is registered or when registrant contact details are updated, the registrant will receive a verification email. They must confirm the details via the verification link.
- Additional registry checks:
Traficom may perform risk-based checks on certain registrations. - Possible delays:
Missing, inaccurate, or unverified contact data may …
To help you stay compliant with the NIS2 Directive, we’ve introduced a new Privacy Setting feature that gives you control over which registrant data fields are considered non-personal and can be safely published via our RDAP server.
What you can do
Coordinate with registrants to identify which data fields (e.g., organization name) are not personal.
Use the Privacy Setting tool to mark these fields accordingly. Once selected, the data is automatically exposed via RDAP, ensuring transparency without compromising privacy.
Why it matters
Under Article 28 of NIS2, registrars must publish non-personal domain registration data without delay. This feature helps you: …
