SSL certificate types
SSL Certificates come in three types of validation: Domain Validation (DV), Organisation Validation (OV), and Extended Validation (EV).
Next to the types of validation, you can choose from a Single Domain, Multi-Domain, or Wildcard certificate.
Not Secure
Since 2018, browsers have shown security warnings where they clearly display when a website does not have an SSL certificate. Gradually they have increased the security warnings, and the current versions display a "Not Secure" warning.

Domain Validation (DV)
Domain Validation (DV) SSL certificates offer a robust encryption strength up to 256-bit, and are issued within minutes. DV certificates are only validated via the domain name, so no paperwork or documentation is required for the validation of your organization.
Organization Validation (OV)
Organization Validation (OV) SSL certificates bring an additional level of online trust to customers and visitors by authenticating their business identity. Organizations must prove it owns the domain name by doing a verification of the owner of the domain name, and confirm that it is a legally registered business.
The additional level of validation makes OV Certificates an ideal option for a public-facing website, representing their companies and organizations. In the details of an OV SSL certificate, there is more information displayed such as Organization, Country, Locality, and the common name. The same information is also reflected in the Site Seal.
Extended Validation (EV)
Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificates provide the highest form of verification of an SSL Certificate, therefore maximizing the trust of the website vistor.
